A practical checklist for sourcing textiles

Define the fabric before comparing prices
Write down fibre composition, construction, weight, usable width, colour reference and the intended application. Include the units beside every measurement. A photo can explain appearance, but it should accompany a written specification rather than replace it. Ask the supplier which details can be measured and documented before production.
Make sampling a separate decision
Request a sample that represents the proposed order and record its reference. Review appearance, measurements, packaging and the agreed checks. If the sample changes, update the written specification before confirming an order. Keep a dated record so both parties understand which version was accepted.
Compare complete quotations
Compare the same quantity, specification, packaging and delivery scope. Record minimum order quantities, lead times, payment milestones and which costs are excluded. Use MSC inquiry and chat to clarify differences before choosing a supplier.
